I stumbled upon a Facebook post from someone answering a question about what they notice first in proposals. I thought that the answer and perspective was great and wanted to share it with everyone!

The personality behind the proposal :) You can tell a lot about a person by how they communicate. Did they read the job description? Are they giving a thoughtful proposal or a template response? Are they familiar with this work? I'm looking for clear and concise writing, a friendly tone, a clear grasp of the job requirements, and someone who speaks to me like a person and not a robot. :)

A lesson here is to be thoughtful with each proposal.

Try being unique in your proposals. You might be pleasantly surprised with the results.
